Update for May 16, 2008

Monday, May 19 is the start of the summer schedule.  Go to the orange TRAVEL INFO section above for details on the summer schedule.

Retaining wall construction is expected to begin in the next few weeks.  The ‘new’ retaining walls will be cast-in-place concrete.  In harmony with the Wild and Scenic River requirements, the color of the completed walls will blend in with the surrounding landscape.

A glimpse at recent work . . . . .

We’ve come a long way since November of 2007.  The old schedule with Monday through Friday closures is out, and the new schedule is in.  Gabion-faced mechanically stabilized earth walls are out, and cast-in-place concrete walls are in.  Rough, narrow spots in the road are going out, and a wider safer road is coming in.  And beginning next week, I am off to work on new adventures here at FHWA, and Gary Wrightman is in as the author of these website updates.
